Grzymisławskie Lake, located in the picturesque municipality of Śrem in Wielkopolska, is one of the most interesting reservoirs in the region, which attracts both residents and tourists from all over Poland every year. It is an ideal place for anyone looking for relaxation by the water, active recreation, as well as excellent conditions for fishing. Let’s discover its qualities together!

Location and physical characteristics
Grzymisławskie Lake is located directly south of the town of Śrem and is a typical gutter lake. This means that it is extremely elongated and relatively narrow. It is about 7.5 km long, but its maximum width is only 500 meters. This body of water covers an area of about 184 hectares, and its maximum depth reaches 11 meters.
Characteristic of the lake is its location in a deep glacial trough, which affects the varied coastline and surroundings, with fragments of forests and farmlands. It is worth noting that according to some descriptions, the water in the lake may have a characteristic, golden color, which gives it a unique charm.
Availability and Accessibility
A convenient location in close proximity to Śrem makes access to Lake Grzymisławskie very easy.
- By car: From the center of Śrem, you can easily reach the main recreation center, which is the City Beach, heading south. The infrastructure around the beach provides parking spaces.
- Public transport/walking/cycling: The proximity of the city allows you to reach the lake on foot or by bike, which is especially popular among residents. Śrem has a well-developed network of roads and paths, conducive to cycling.
Tourist and recreational significance
Grzymisławskie Lake is of great tourist importance for the Śrem Commune. It is the main center of summer recreation by the water, concentrating recreational life around the modern and attractive City Beach.
City Beach – the center of relaxation
The City Beach in Śrem, located at Jeziorna Street, is the heart of summer recreation. It is the only designated and guarded bathing area on the lake, with WOPR lifeguards on duty during the bathing season (usually lasting from the end of June to the end of August, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.). The length of the designated shoreline of the bathing area is about 75 meters.
The attractions on the beach are numerous and varied:
- Swimming and water: The swimming pool is regularly inspected by the sanitary authority, and for variety, there is a two-lane water slide for the elderly and a small “elephant” slide for the youngest.
- Active recreation: On the beach there are beach and badminton courts, boule tracks, an outdoor gym and a street workout area.
- Rental: The beach offers free rental of kayaks and beach chairs, which is a great convenience.
- Amenities: The area is fenced, equipped with toilets, showers and changing rooms. In recent years, attention has also been paid to accessibility for people with disabilities, planning a paved access to the water and the possible purchase of a special amphibious vehicle for bathing.
- Events: In July and August, animations for children, music evenings, campfire meetings and outdoor trainings are often organized here, which makes summer in Śrem vibrant.
Accommodation and catering facilities
Although Lake Grzymisławskie itself does not have an extensive, direct hotel base, the proximity of Śrem compensates for this lack.
- Accommodation: There are a variety of accommodation options available in Śrem itself and the surrounding area, including hotels, guesthouses and agritourism, which are an excellent starting point for the lake.
- Gastronomy: Directly on the City Beach there is a catering point that provides beachgoers with basic meals, snacks and drinks in the summer season. In addition, a rich gastronomic offer is available in the center of Śrem, where you can find restaurants, cafes and pubs with local and international cuisine.
Fishing on Lake Grzymisławskie
For fishing enthusiasts, Lake Grzymisławskie is a promising body of water. The lake is managed by the Polish Angling Association and is regularly stocked, which translates into a wealth of fish.
- Conditions: A gutter reservoir with a maximum depth of 11 meters with a varied bottom and vegetation creates a good habitat for many species.
- Fish species: In the lake you can expect species typical for the waters of Wielkopolska. The most commonly caught are: bream, roach, bream, perch, pike, tench, crucian carp (common and silver), as well as (less commonly) catfish and eel. Pike and tench are among the most appreciated by anglers.
- Requirements: In order to be able to fish, it is necessary to have a fishing card and purchase an appropriate fishing permit in the waters of the PZW District.
Summary
Grzymisławskie Lake in the Śrem Commune is an attractive tourist destination that combines the natural qualities of a gutter reservoir with an area of 184 hectares with modern recreational infrastructure. Easy access, a well-organized and guarded City Beach with numerous attractions and access to the gastronomic base in Śrem guarantee a successful holiday. This lake is also prized by anglers for its abundance of fish such as pike, tench and bream. It is a key summer recreation center in the region, offering relaxation and activity for everyone.
Grzymisławskie Lake is more than just a place to swim. For me, this is a perfect example of how a well-developed area can serve the local community and tourists. I admire the transformation of the City Beach into a modern and safe recreational facility. A walk along the shore of the lake, especially at sunset, is pure pleasure that allows you to get away from the hustle and sound of the city for a while. It is an ideal haven for families, athletes and people looking for just peace by the water.
